There is no email program associated windows 7 outlook 2007

When I launch Outlook, it comes up with the message "There is no email program associated to perform the request action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel. I removed Office and reinstalled it. Double-checked file associations, and they all look good.

Any ideas? Could it be a corrupt Outlook registry key? Please refer to the information which Ken posted.
