In this handheld edition, players are able to choose the gender of the protagonist and play as a male or female, which can alter some aspects of the story.
In addition, composer Shoji Meguro created 10 new musical tracks for Persona 3 Portable, with most of them being done for the female playthrough. Finally, there are two new difficulty levels, Beginner and Maniac, that have been added to the PSP version. All of which works great and runs smoothly. Persona 4 characters like Yukiko Amagi also make cameo appearances in the game. The story takes shape when the King of the land dies and the two successors are too young to claim the crown.
The Dukes end up fighting over the land and crown and the protagonist gets caught up in the struggle. Much of the gameplay is the same as the original, with the exception of some new cutscenes, character designs, multiplayer, and other features.

We poured over the numerous titles that were present at the show, looking for those titles that could qualify for each award in the various genres listed below based on what we played. There were some surprises and some expected favorites that made their mark; others showed exceptional gameplay or glimpses of inspired design, which made them stand out above all of the other PSP games.

Liberation simply delivers on its promise of frenetic gameplay. It's fast-paced and hectic in equal doses. But it's far more than your average action title. Liberation throws in serious strategy. So not only do you get the summer blockbuster aspect, but you also score the chess game-on-steroids element that truly sets it apart.
And it doesn't much time to convince someone of that fact. Liberation simply doesn't play like your average action or strategy title. It seamlessly blends both aspects through a real-time command system. You can order troop placement, lay mines and explosives, even activate traps through one intuitive interface.
And you can do all this in the middle of a fight. Liberation never takes you out of a battle. Throw in some great production values and presto: you've got the makings of a killer action title that offers more than just a mindless string of explosions. Definitely a game to watch when it ships this fall.
